Porcelain Veneers

Dentists Serving Patients in Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton & Nearby Areas of Florida

While there are a wide range of cosmetic dentistry options to help you improve the appearance of your smile, very few are as versatile as porcelain veneers. For this reason, veneers are one of the more popular procedures performed at The Smile Centre, and our cosmetic dentists often recommend them as part of a smile makeover.

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of dental porcelain that are placed on the surface of your teeth in order to improve the appearance of a wide range of cosmetic smile imperfections. Our dentists can color-match your porcelain veneers to the shade of your adjacent teeth. In addition, the dental porcelain used in veneers has the same translucent properties as tooth enamel. This ensures your new porcelain veneers will deliver beautiful, natural looking results that blend in with the rest of your teeth.

You can find out whether porcelain veneers are the right option for you by speaking with our cosmetic dentists in person. Please call 941-497-5451 to schedule a consultation at our Venice office, or 941-366-3636 to schedule a consultation at our Sarasota office.

Am I a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

As long as you have healthy teeth and gums, you are most likely a candidate for porcelain veneers. If you have gum disease or tooth decay, we will need to take care of these problems first before fitting you with veneers.

However, there are a few dental issues that can potentially pose a problem with porcelain veneers:

  • Bruxism (teeth grinding) -- If you regularly grind or clench your teeth, your veneers may be more vulnerable to chipping or cracking.
  • Severe malocclusion -- Malocclusion is a term that refers to a misaligned bite. While porcelain veneers can mask the appearance of misaligned teeth, they cannot correct the underlying issues causing these problems.
  • Insufficient tooth enamel -- If you don't have enough enamel left on your teeth, the veneers will not successfully bond. If this is the case, our team will discuss alternate methods of restoring your smile.

Your Porcelain Veneers Procedure

Venice Porcelain VeneersYour porcelain veneers will be meticulously crafted to ensure they fit your unique smile.  Our cosmetic dentists can place as many veneers as necessary to deliver your desired results. This may entail using only one or two veneers, or it can involve placing veneers on the surface of all teeth that are visible when you smile.

Your procedure can be completed in two office visits. During your first appointment, our dentists will prepare your teeth and take an impression that will be sent to the lab for use when creating your porcelain veneers. You'll receive temporary veneers at this time.

Once your permanent porcelain veneers have been created by the lab, you'll return to our office so that our dentists can bond them to the surface of your teeth.

Instant Orthodontics

If you would like to avoid the lengthy process associated with traditional orthodontic treatments or Invisalign, you may want to consider porcelain veneers as a solution to improve the appearance of crooked teeth.

Porcelain veneers are often referred to as "instant orthodontics" because they can provide you with a straight, beautiful smile in a fraction of the time it takes to undergo orthodontic treatment. It's important to understand that instant orthodontics only provide the appearance of straight teeth. If you would like to also address the underlying cause of your crooked teeth or bite alignment issues, then you should choose a more traditional orthodontic treatment option.
