What is a Full Mouth Restoration?

A full mouth restoration (also called full mouth reconstruction or rehabilitation) is the process of restoring every one of a patient’s upper and lower teeth. The restoration usually involves both general dentistry and restorative dentistry.

Unlike a smile makeover, which addresses mainly cosmetic dental issues and is something patients do because they want to, a full mouth restoration is something patients undergo because they need to.

A full mouth restoration patient can expect the process to occur in carefully planned stages and take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to complete. One of the beauties of having this type of treatment completed at The Smile Centre is that all the services can be performed in one location, usually, with one doctor.

We respect your time and energy and understand that time out of busy schedules, work or school, making appointments and driving between a variety of specialists can be difficult, to say the least.

We strive to provide the highest quality care and create the healthiest and most aesthetically pleasing smiles. Therefore, we maintain consistent communication among your treatment doctor(s) and team, and we maximize your ease and convenience in achieving your most attractive, healthy smile at The Smile Centre in Venice and Sarasota, Florida.

Why Would a Patient Need a Full Mouth Restoration?

A patient may want to discuss a full mouth restoration if:

  • Most or all of the teeth have been lost or broken because of an injury or decay.
  • Most or all of the teeth have been fractured, chipped or worn down completely over time. This can happen from long-term grinding of teeth and/or untreated Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) symptoms or Craniofacial Pain.
  • The condition of a patient’s teeth has deteriorated significantly, causing bad breath, missing teeth and gum disease.

Possible Procedures Involved in a Full Mouth Restoration
