Dental Bonding

Serving Patients in Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton & Nearby Areas of Florida

Dental bonding is a wonderful solution for many different cosmetic problems that you may have with your teeth. Dental bonding is usually used to correct specific minor problems on individual teeth, rather than on all your teeth.

Much like white fillings, dental bonding is made from a composite resin, and is matched to the color of the rest of your teeth. Dental bonding can be used to correct:

  • Chipped Teeth
  • Discolored Teeth
  • Broken Teeth
  • Misshaped Teeth
  • Crooked Teeth
  • Worn Teeth

If you are considering dental bonding, contact  The Smile Centre in , Venice, or Sarasota, Florida to schedule an initial consultation. During your initial consultation your doctor will inform you about the dental bonding procedure and answer all your questions.

The doctor will also evaluate your dental history, your dental health, and listen to what you would like to accomplish with dental bonding. After speaking with you, the Doctor may determine that another cosmetic solution, like porcelain veneers or dental crowns, may be a better solution for your problem if the concerns are more involved and optimal esthetics are required.

If you are a dental bonding candidate, you will be able to schedule an appointment to have your teeth bonded. The dental bonding procedure is simple, and usually only takes one visit to the dentist office. During your dental bonding procedure, the doctor will prepare the tooth or teeth being bonded by applying a special solution to the surface of the teeth that will etch them.

The teeth must be etched in order for the teeth bonding material to adhere to the tooth. Once the tooth has been etched the doctor will place the composite resin and color match it to the rest of your teeth. Then, they will apply the dental bonding in layers. After each layer is applied, a special high-intensity curing light is used to bond and harden the dental bonding composite resin.

Once the dental bonding material has been applied, bonded, and light cured, your doctor will shape and polish the bonding so that it is indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth.  Dental bonding is relatively long lasting, but it may need to be touched up again in the future in order for it to retain its natural look and function.
