Sedation Dentistry / Sleep Dentistry

Serving the Sarasota, Tampa and Tampa Bay areas

One of the best ways to preserve the health of your teeth and prevent future, more invasive dental procedures is to see the dentist on a regular basis. If the thought of going to the dentist gives you chills, sedation dentistry might be the answer you have been looking for.

If you are suffering from any sort of dental anxiety, Dr. Stanley provides sedation dentistry options to make your next dental visit comfortable, relaxing, and anxiety free.

Sedation dentistry is the perfect solution if you have neglected to see the dentist for any reason. Sedation dentistry can be used if you:

  • Fear needles
  • Have dental anxiety
  • Have difficulty getting numb
  • Have had traumatic past dental experiences
  • Require multiple dental procedures
  • Have a bad gag reflex
  • Have very sensitive teeth
  • Are embarrassed about your teeth
  • Suffer from physical disabilities

Dr. Stanley performs conscious sedation dentistry, as opposed to unconscious, or "sleep," dentistry. During conscious sedation, you are sedated to a point where you are completely relaxed and pain free, but you will still be able to respond to commands and breathe without assistance.

You can also choose to undergo sedation dentistry to complete multiple procedures in one simple visit, rather than having to return to the dentist office a few different times. This is a wonderful option if you have a very busy schedule.

After your sedation dentistry appointment, you will need to have a family member or friend drive you home. It takes time for the sedatives used during the procedure to wear off, and you won't be able to drive yourself home.

If you are considering sedation dentistry, contact Dr. Stanley and schedule a free initial consultation to determine if you are a candidate. If you are a candidate, Dr. Stanley will inform you all about the sedation or sleep dentistry procedure.
